Catherine Son
Literacy Support Teacher
My name is Catherine Son, and I am originally from Saskatchewan. Prior to moving to Yellowknife, I taught in Sachs Harbour for 4 years. I have worked at Weledeh Catholic School since 2004. I have worked in various positions over the years, including a classroom assistant, a Leadership and Resiliency facilitator and a middle school teacher. This year, I am working as a literacy support teacher, supporting students in Grade 2 to 7. I feel very blessed to work with the wonderful students of Weledeh who are continually striving to be excellent leaders, innovators, creators, and problem solvers.
Christine Macdonald
Program Support Teacher
My name is Christine Macdonald and I am the French Immersion Support Teacher. I’m originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia but have spent the last 10 years working with YCS as a French Immersion Teacher and as Program Support Teacher. I am very excited to be joining the Weledeh community this year!

My name is Gina MacLean. I have been teaching at Weledeh Catholic School since 2004. I teach Indigenous Language and Culture. I was born and raised in the Northwest Territories. I love working here. The staff and the students are so awesome, caring and fun!
Jose Esteban
Physical Education Teacher
I am excited to be part of the Weledeh family. You can usually find me in the gym and after school you can still find me in the gym coaching volleyball, basketball or badminton. In my rare spare time you can find me at the YK Gymnastics club coaching as well. An exciting fact about me is my favourite animal is a unicorn.
Kara Cherland
Fine Arts/Core French Teacher
Hello! I am Kara Cherland, originally from Saskatchewan, I have lived here in Yellowknife with my family since 2010. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts, specializing in vocal performance at Concordia University and my Bachelor of Education at Queens. I taught music at St. George Elementary School in Montréal for 4 years and music at École Allain St. Cyr, here in Yellowknife, for 3 years and I have been at Weledeh now since 2019. I am passionate about the performing arts and very excited to be part of the Weledeh team!
Sarah Morton
Literacy Support Teacher
My name is Sarah Morton. I have been teaching at Weledeh since 2007. I am a long term northerner and love living and raising my family in Yellowknife. We love to spend time outdoors, camping, boating, skidooing and hiking. I attended kindergarten at Weledeh (St. Pat's Elementary at the time) and graduated from St. Patrick High School. I earned both my Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education Degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, graduating in 2006. I am very proud to be a member of the Weledeh Catholic School community.
Jordan Zwarych

Hi, my name is Jordan Zwarych. This is my first year at Weledeh Catholic School as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant for kindergarten and junior kindergarten. Prior to moving to Weledeh, I worked at Ecole St.Joseph School as a Classroom Assistant. I am originally from Calgary, AB and moved to Yellowknife with my partner and cat. I am excited to be a part of the Weledeh family and eager to see what the year brings!
