Faith Alive Day 2013

On Friday, March 15th, Weledeh celebrated their faith by having a Faith Alive Day.  The theme for this year was “Just Believe You are the Body of Christ”.  Students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 were in mixed groups and attended different sessions learning about how we are all one, and how we can be like the body of Christ and serve others.

The morning started off with an opening liturgy to make students aware of what the day would be about.   Sessions included an obstacle course in the gym, a craft activity where students designed their own lego person, and a teamwork game using body parts to pin on a paper body.  Students also participated in a service learning session where they made sandwiches.  The sandwiches were then donated to different organizations in town.

After the sessions, students gathered in the gym for a closing song led by the Grade Ones called Ubuntu, which means “I am what I am because of who we all are”.

After lunch things were wrapped up with a closing liturgy on being connected for the primary students.  The rest of the students attended a Stations of the Cross liturgy in the gym

All in all, students had fun with their group while still taking time to reflect on how they could be the Body of Christ.  It was a wonderful way to spend the last day before March break.
